The SECO 03274024 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SNMG432-MF4 series, designed for high-performance metal cutting in turning, boring, and facing operations. It carries the TM2501 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a 90-degree square geometry with a negative rake angle of 30 degrees. Eight usable cutting edges are available per insert, maximizing cost efficiency per tool change. The MF4 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style are optimized for reliable chip control and edge stability at moderate to aggressive feed rates.
This insert is suited for machining stainless steel as its primary workpiece material and steel as its secondary workpiece material, corresponding to ISO material codes M and P respectively. Material grades M25, M30, and M35 define the recommended application range. Typical use cases include general turning, boring, and facing on CNC lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right- and left-hand toolholders where SNMG-style inserts are specified. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.4689 inches, supporting medium to roughing passes in stainless and alloy steel applications.

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping to achieve proper insert support. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque and securing method; do not mix clamp styles not specified for this insert geometry.
