The SECO 03273966 is a WNMG432-MF4 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries a TM3501 manufacturer grade and features an 80-degree trigon (W-shape) insert geometry with a negative rake angle of 30 degrees and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. The MF4 chip breaker geometry is engineered for stable chip control during finish and medium turning operations. With six usable cutting edges and a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, this insert delivers consistent tool life in demanding production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the typical end users.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on stainless steel (ISO material code M) as a primary workpiece material, with steel (ISO material code P) as a secondary application. Material grades M30 and M40 define its recommended application range, making it appropriate for medium to roughing cuts on austenitic and duplex stainless grades as well as carbon and alloy steels. The MF4 chip breaker profile performs well in continuous-cut finish turning scenarios where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities.
Designed for use in WNMG-series toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert retention. Compatible with toolholder systems sized for a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle WNMG insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder specification against ANSI and ISO WNMG080408 standards before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedure for the specific retention method in use. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as this can cause unpredictable tool failure and workpiece damage.
