The SECO 03273915 is a CNMG542-MF4 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries manufacturer grade TM2501 and is designed for precision metal-removal operations in CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. Four usable cutting edges and the MF4 chip breaker geometry make this insert a productive choice for medium finishing passes on difficult materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments handle installation and indexing.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both light-production and job-shop settings. Its primary target workpiece material is stainless steel, with steel as a secondary application. The MF4 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium finishing cuts where chip control and edge stability on work-hardening alloys are critical. The negative rake angle and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style support consistent edge life across repeated indexing cycles. Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before engaging the clamping mechanism — clamp, pin, or lever lock as applicable to the toolholder in use. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before seating a fresh cutting edge to avoid premature edge failure.
