The SECO 03273905 is a CNMG432-MF4 indexable turning insert in grade TM3501, designed for precision material removal in CNC turning operations. It features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN and Al2O3 with a chromium outer layer, delivering thermal stability and wear resistance across demanding cuts. The insert has a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315 inch corner radius, and an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake geometry. With four cutting edges and a chamfered and honed edge prep, it is suited for high-productivity roughing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CNMG-style toolholders.
This insert is primarily engineered for stainless steel (ISO material group M, grades M30 and M40) and performs well in general steel (ISO group P) applications. It supports boring, facing, and turning operations. The MF4 chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow during medium to light cuts in difficult-to-machine materials where chip management is critical. Typical installations are in production turning centers handling aerospace, medical, energy, and general industrial components where stainless and alloy steel are common workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for CNMG-style indexable toolholders accepting a 432 insert size with clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention. ISO equivalent designation is CNMG120408-MF4. Meets ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and locked out per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating tool specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw or lever-lock mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
