The SECO 03273903 is a CNMG432-MF4 indexable turning insert in grade TM1501, designed for high-performance metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It has a diamond 80-degree included angle, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a negative rake geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. With four usable cutting edges and an MF4 chip breaker, it is suited for finish to medium turning operations where consistent chip control on difficult materials is required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel (ISO material group M, grades M15, M20, M25) and is also rated for general steel (ISO group P). Typical applications include exterior turning, facing, and boring operations on a lathe or turning center. The MF4 chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate feed rates and depths of cut up to 0.4756 inches, making it well suited for production turning of stainless components such as fittings, shafts, and flanges found in HVAC, plumbing, and industrial supply chains.
Designed as a direct replacement for CNMG432-MF4 geometry toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert seating methods conforming to ANSI and ISO CNMG seating standards. Suitable for multi-use applications including boring, facing, and turning.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before indexing or replacing the insert, power down the machine, engage the spindle lock, and relieve any coolant pressure. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified seating screw when securing the insert in the pocket to ensure proper contact with the locating surfaces. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new cutting edge.
