The SECO 03273902 is a CNMG431-MF4 series indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a solid carbide substrate with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64 inch corner radius. With four cutting edges and a chamfered-and-honed edge prep, it is suited for machinists and toolroom technicians running medium to roughing passes on stainless steel and steel workpieces.
This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring operations on stainless steel (ISO material code M) as the primary workpiece material and steel (ISO material code P) as the secondary. The MF4 chip breaker geometry and negative rake angle support stable chip control at moderate feed rates. Material grades M30 and M40 cover medium to heavy cutting conditions typical in job shops, aerospace component machining, and general metalworking environments. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO designation CNMG120404-MF4.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable insert for toolholders accepting CNMG431 geometry with clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods, conforming to ANSI and ISO CNMG120404-MF4 standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before torquing the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.4917 inches as rated for this insert geometry.
