The SECO 03273899 is a CNMG431-MF4 indexable turning insert in grade TM1501, designed for general turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which delivers thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting geometry, and the MF4 chip breaker is optimized for light-to-medium feeds on stainless steel and steel workpieces. Four usable cutting edges maximize tool life per insert.
This insert is suited for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M) as its primary workpiece material, with carbon and alloy steel (ISO group P) as a secondary application. It fits production environments where consistent chip control and surface finish are required in turning and facing passes. The negative rake geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style make it appropriate for interrupted or continuous cuts at moderate depths. Material grades M15, M20, and M25 indicate mid-range cutting conditions typical in job shop and production machining. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert with N clearance and M tolerance. Compatible insert-holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever lock. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on stainless steel and steel workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing the insert, disengage the machine spindle and confirm the turret is fully stopped. Seat the insert firmly against the pocket locating surfaces and engage the clamping mechanism fully before resuming cuts. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw; do not use impact tools on insert screws.
