The SECO 03273008 is a solid carbide octagon milling insert in the ONMU-09 series, grade MP2501, designed for face and shoulder milling operations. The insert carries a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating over a fine-grain carbide substrate. It measures 0.8661 inches inscribed circle diameter and 0.2189 inches thick, with 16 cutting edges on a double-sided configuration. Negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style and 0.0787 inch corner radius make this insert well-suited for productive cuts in steel and other demanding workpiece materials. Installation is via screw-clamp holding.
This insert is intended for use in milling applications where the primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It is compatible with SECO cutter series R220.48-09 and L220.48-09. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of milling head orientations. Typical users are machinists and tooling technicians in production, job shop, and maintenance environments running CNC or manual milling equipment. Installation and insert indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the screw-clamp; do not exceed the cutter body manufacturer's recommended fastening procedure. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Confirm correct insert orientation and seating before resuming machine operation.
