The SECO 03273007 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ONMU-09 series, designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. It features a fine-grain carbide substrate coated via CVD with a TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic multilayer coating for extended wear resistance and thermal stability. The octagon insert shape delivers 16 usable cutting edges per insert, reducing tooling cost per edge. With a negative rake angle of 15 degrees and a T-Land cutting edge style, this insert is built for aggressive material removal on steel and related workpiece materials. Installation and use require a compatible milling cutter body.
This insert is suited for milling applications in steel as its primary workpiece material, with rated capability in stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of face milling setups. It carries ISO material grade codes P, M, K, and S, covering a broad spectrum of CNC machining environments in both production and job-shop settings. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians using the screw-holding method specified for the ONMU-09 insert seat. Ensure the milling cutter body is fully powered down and spindle is locked before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter manufacturer torque specification shown in the cutter body documentation. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installation to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
