The SECO 03272991 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation OFMR070405TR-M15 in the MP2501 grade. This single-sided, octagonal insert is designed for face and shoulder milling operations where consistent edge life and reliable chip control are required. It features a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating over a fine-grain carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability. The M15 chip breaker geometry is paired with a neutral rake angle and T-Land cutting edge style, making it well suited for steel machining at moderate to aggressive feeds. Eight usable cutting edges per insert reduce per-edge tooling cost in production environments.
This insert is intended for use in face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling applications. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material group P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and superalloys and titanium (S). It is a right-hand insert and is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method. The insert is compatible with the SECO R220.43-07 cutter series. Typical users include CNC machinists, toolroom technicians, and manufacturing shops running ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloy components.
Compatible with the SECO R220.43-07 cutter series. Designed for use in cutter bodies accepting OFMR-07 series inserts with an inscribed circle in the range of 0.7000 to 1.0000 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure full, even contact.
