The SECO 03272988 is a solid carbide milling insert in an octagon shape, designed for use in indexable face and shoulder milling applications. Manufactured to the MP2501 grade with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting steel and related materials. It features 8 cutting edges, a neutral hand orientation, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 0-degree rake angle. The insert is held in the cutter body via a wedge clamp system. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production machining environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It carries ANSI and ISO designations OFER070405TN-M16 and is compatible with the R220.43-07 cutter series. The M16 chip breaker geometry supports stable chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths. Applicable in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where controlled depth of cut and consistent edge life are required.
Compatible with the R220.43-07 cutter series. ANSI and ISO code OFER070405TN-M16. Inscribed circle range 0.7000 to 1.0000 inches; length range 0.7000 to 0.9000 inches; thickness range 0.1750 to 0.1850 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release and re-engage the wedge clamp per the cutter body manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the insert pocket for damage or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
