The SECO 03272987 is a solid carbide milling insert in the OFEX-05 series, identified by ANSI and ISO code OFEX05T305TN-D09 and manufactured to grade MP1501. The insert features an octagon shape with 8 cutting edges, a neutral rake and neutral hand orientation, and a T-Land cutting edge style. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic coating combining TiCN and Al2O3 layers, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding milling applications. Thickness is 0.1563 inches with an inscribed circle diameter of 0.5042 inches. Licensed machinists, tooling technicians, and CNC mill operators install this insert in compatible face and shoulder milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in cast iron and hard materials. The D09 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups. A maximum depth of cut of 0.1929 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.2079 inches define the productive engagement envelope.
