The SECO 03272970 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SEEX1204AFTN-MD18 in manufacturer grade MP1501. It is a square-shaped, single-sided insert with a neutral hand orientation and a 90-degree included angle. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic TiCN and Al2O3 coating for wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous milling passes. With four cutting edges, a 0.1874-inch thickness, and a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle diameter, this insert is designed for indexable face and shoulder milling operations. Licensed HVAC, machining, and toolroom professionals install these as indexed replacements on compatible SECO cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling steel, cast iron, and hard materials in both roughing and semi-finishing applications. The MD18 chip breaker geometry and T-Land cutting edge style help manage chip formation and protect the edge when cutting ferrous and hardened workpiece materials. The 0.3425-inch maximum depth of cut supports productive material removal rates in production and job-shop environments. Compatible cutter series include the R217.53-12 and R220.53-12 SECO milling bodies, making this a direct indexed replacement within those tool systems. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.53-12 and R220.53-12. Insert series designation is SEEX-12. Fits toolholders and cutter bodies requiring a screw-held, square SEEX 1204 insert with a 0.1772-inch hole diameter.
Indexable milling inserts of this type are installed and serviced by machinists and toolroom technicians following machine lockout and spindle stop procedures. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before torquing the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer specification. Inspect the pocket for chips, burrs, or wear that could affect seating before each index. Do not regrind or recoat single-sided inserts intended for discard after all cutting edges are worn.
