The SECO 03272960 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SEMX09T3AFTN-M08 in manufacturer grade MP2501. This single-sided, square-shape insert measures 3/8 inch in length and width with a thickness of 5/32 inch (0.1563 inches) and features four cutting edges. The CVD-applied Duratomic coating combines TiCN and Al2O3 layers to extend tool life across demanding material removal operations. With a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 20-degree relief angle, the insert is engineered for stable, predictable performance in steel and related difficult-to-machine alloys.
This insert is intended for use in indexable milling cutters on machining centers and CNC milling machines in industrial and production environments. It is compatible with SECO cutter series R217.53 and R220.53-09 per supplier data. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and superalloys and titanium (S). Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocket milling where controlled chip evacuation and consistent edge geometry are required. The M08 chip breaker geometry supports moderate to heavy feed conditions in these material groups.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.53 and R220.53-09 as specified in supplier data. The SEMX-09 series insert size code 09T3 applies to indexable milling toolholders requiring a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, screw-held square insert with a neutral hand orientation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing any insert. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw, and inspect the pocket for chips or debris that could misalign the insert. Follow the cutter body manufacturer's torque specification for the clamping screw as published in the applicable toolholder documentation.
