The SECO 03272910 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert in the XNEX-08 series, manufactured to grade MP1501 with a CVD-applied Duratomic TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer coating. The insert features a negative rake angle of 22 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and six usable cutting edges on a double-sided configuration. At 0.2539 inches thick with a 0.4913-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert is engineered for precision metal removal in demanding milling operations. It is installed by machinists and CNC tool-setup technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel, cast iron, and hard materials in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The M13 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip flow when working in these material groups. The insert carries ISO workpiece material codes P, K, and H, covering low- to medium-alloy steels, gray and nodular cast irons, and hardened materials. It is designed for right-hand cutting and is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling where a rigid, multi-edge carbide insert is required.
Compatible with Seco cutter series R217.96-08 and R220.96-08. ANSI and ISO code XNEX080608TR-M13 with insert size code 080608. Inscribed circle range 0.4000 to 0.5000 inches and thickness range 0.2500 to 0.3500 inches define the seating envelope.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always disengage the spindle and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the cutter body screw specification stated in the cutter body documentation — do not estimate torque. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or burrs before seating the new insert, and confirm positive edge engagement before resuming cuts.
