The SECO 03272872 is a solid carbide milling insert designated by ANSI and ISO code XOMX180608TR-D16, manufactured in grade MP1501 with a CVD-applied Duratomic TiCN and Al2O3 coating. This single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert carries a positive rake angle of 11 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 15-degree relief angle. It provides 2 cutting edges per insert and a maximum depth of cut of 8.25 mm (0.3247 inches). The D16 chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip formation in demanding milling operations. Installation is performed by machining professionals using screw-style insert holding on compatible SECO milling cutter bodies.
This insert is designed for milling steel as a primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials (material codes P, K, and H). The XOMX series positive-geometry insert suits face milling and shoulder milling applications in both production and job-shop environments. The CVD Duratomic coating delivers wear and heat resistance for extended tool life at moderate-to-high cutting speeds on ferrous materials. Compatible cutter series include R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 SECO milling bodies.
Designed for use in SECO milling cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18. Sized to XOMX-18 series insert pockets. Primary material application is steel; secondary applications include cast iron and hard materials.
This insert is installed and replaced by trained machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body seat; do not overtighten or under-torque the screw. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for damage before seating a new insert.
