The SECO 03272870 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation XOMX180631TR-M14 in manufacturer grade MP2501. It features a parallelogram shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style designed to reduce cutting forces during face and shoulder milling operations. The insert is CVD-coated with TiCN and Al2O3 under SECOs Duratomic coating classification, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during demanding metal-removal cycles. Two cutting edges per insert are available, and the right-hand orientation suits standard toolholder configurations. Maximum depth of cut is 8.25 mm (0.6693 inches).
This insert is intended for milling applications in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It is well suited for production environments running medium to high feed rates where edge durability and consistent chip control are priorities. The M14 chip breaker geometry is optimized for general-purpose milling of steel as the primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability across ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18.

Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Before replacing inserts, ensure the spindle is powered down and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturers specified torque. Inspect the pocket seating surfaces for chips or debris prior to indexing or replacing inserts to maintain runout accuracy.
