The SECO 03272861 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer part number XOMX180608TR-M14 in the MP2501 grade. It is a parallelogram-shaped, single-sided insert designed for use in indexable milling cutters operating on CNC machining centers and milling machines. The insert measures 16.50 mm in length, 11.20 mm wide inscribed circle, and 6.40 mm thick, with a corner radius of 1/32 inch (0.0315 inch). The CVD-applied Duratomic coating — TiCN plus Al2O3 — provides wear resistance across a broad range of cutting conditions. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the right-hand configuration with a positive rake angle and T-Land cutting edge style supports efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces.
This insert is intended for milling steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary material applications include stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. The M14 chip breaker geometry supports moderate to aggressive feed rates in face milling and shoulder milling operations. The insert is compatible with cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18. It is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method and is suited for right-hand operation. Typical users are CNC machinists and tooling specialists in production machining environments.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18. Designed for use in XOMX-18 series indexable milling toolholders using screw-clamp insert retention.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle locked out and the machine in a safe, de-energized state. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excess clamping load. Confirm insert seating and pocket cleanliness before returning the tool to service. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when changing inserts.
