The SECO 03272850 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120404TR-ME08 in manufacturer grade MP2501. This single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN and Al2O3 layers, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous milling operations. The insert measures 5.07 mm thick with an inscribed circle of 8.20 mm and a maximum depth of cut of 5.80 mm. Two cutting edges, a positive 20.1-degree rake angle, and a T-Land cutting edge style combine to reduce cutting forces and control chip formation. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-clamped toolholders compatible with the XOMX-12 series.
This insert is designed primarily for milling steel and performs reliably across a range of secondary workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The ME08 chip breaker geometry suits medium-depth roughing and semi-finishing passes. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling on CNC machining centers in job shop and production environments. The fine-grain carbide substrate supports consistent edge retention across high-volume runs on ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 per manufacturer specifications. Designated for right-hand, screw-clamped XOMX-12 series toolholders. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and seating surface condition before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to torque the clamping screw — do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for chips or wear before seating a new insert.
