The SECO 03272830 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120408TR-D14 in manufacturer grade MP1501. This single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN and Al2O3 for wear resistance during aggressive milling operations. It has a positive rake angle of 1 degree, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 15-degree relief angle. With 2 cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 5.80 mm, it is suited for high-productivity face and shoulder milling. Installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists, it mounts via screw-hold clamping in compatible toolholders.
This insert is designed for milling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary applications in cast iron and hard materials, aligning with ISO material codes P, K, and H. It is well suited to production and job-shop environments running roughing to semi-finishing passes. The D14 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups. Compatible cutter series include R217.69-12 and R220.69-12, as stated in the manufacturer specifications.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12. Insert style XOMX, size code 120408, right-hand orientation. Verify pocket geometry and screw size against the toolholder specification sheet before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not over-torque. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installing the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
