The SECO 03272828 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120408TR-D14 in manufacturer grade MP2501. This single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN and Al2O3, delivering hardness and thermal resistance for demanding metal removal operations. The insert measures 11.60 mm in length, 8.20 mm inscribed circle diameter, and 5.07 mm thick. It carries a positive rake angle of 1 degree, a 15-degree relief angle, and a T-Land cutting edge style with a D14 chip breaker. Two cutting edges are provided, and the insert is held in the cutter body by screw mounting. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert in compatible indexable milling toolholders.
This insert is designed for milling operations on steel as the primary workpiece material, with rated secondary application in stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The MP2501 grade with Duratomic CVD coating is suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where consistent edge life and chip control are priorities. The D14 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively across a range of cutting conditions. Maximum depth of cut is 5.80 mm. The corner radius is 1/32 inch (0.0315 decimal inch), supporting controlled entry and reduced radial forces at the workpiece edge. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling in production and job-shop environments.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 indexable milling bodies that accept XOMX-12 series inserts with screw-lock mounting.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full lockout-tagout state. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — refer to the cutter body documentation, as torque values are not listed on this insert. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Never force an insert into a damaged or worn pocket, as this can compromise edge geometry and create a safety hazard during operation.
