The SECO 03272827 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120408TR-ME08 in manufacturer grade MP2501. It features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake angle of 20.1 degrees and a T-Land cutting edge style, making it well suited for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. The insert is CVD-coated with a TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating classification for improved wear resistance and thermal stability. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the right-hand configuration fits the XOMX-12 series cutter bodies. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is intended for use in industrial milling applications ranging from general-purpose steel machining to more demanding operations on stainless steel and cast iron. The ME08 chip breaker geometry is designed to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces across a range of depths. With a maximum depth of cut of 5.80 mm, it is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in production environments. Compatible cutter series include R217.69-12 and R220.69-12. Installation is by screw-clamp holding method, which is standard for this insert style.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12. ANSI and ISO code XOMX120408TR-ME08 with insert size code 120408 and series designation XOMX-12.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the screw-clamp method standard to XOMX-style insert pockets. Ensure the cutter body is fully secured and the machine spindle is powered down and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before torquing the clamp screw to the cutter body manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris prior to seating a new insert.
