The SECO 03272682 is a trigon-shaped solid carbide milling insert in the 218.19-160 series, designed for indexable milling operations in metalworking applications. It carries manufacturer grade MP1501 with a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN and Al2O3, delivering wear resistance on demanding materials including steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The insert features a neutral rake angle, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 12-degree relief angle. With an inscribed circle of 0.4402 inches and a corner radius of 0.0472 inches (3/64 inch), this insert is suited for precision stock removal and finishing passes where controlled chip formation is required.
This insert is intended for use in industrial milling operations, primarily in job shop and production machining environments. It is appropriate for face milling and shoulder milling of steel and cast iron workpieces, including hard materials. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0790 inches. The MD11 chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate to finishing depth passes. Screw-style insert holding is used, which is standard on compatible cutter bodies. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.21 and R220.21-R160 per manufacturer data. ANSI and ISO code 218.19-160T-04-MD11. Insert size code 160T-04.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
