The SECO 03272674 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert carrying the manufacturer designation 218.19-160T-04-MD11 in grade MP2501. The insert features a 60-degree included angle, three cutting edges, and a neutral rake with a T-Land cutting edge style. A dual-layer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 under the Duratomic classification provides thermal and abrasion resistance during interrupted and continuous milling operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.4402 inches and the insert is 0.1874 inches thick, with a corner radius of 0.0472 inches (3/64 inch). The MD11 chip breaker geometry is optimized for productive metal removal across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations on machining centers and CNC mills in both production shops and job shops. Primary application is steel, with secondary capability on stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The neutral hand design allows use in a wide range of cutter bodies. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0790 inches. The ISO designation 218.19-160T-04-MD11 applies, and the insert conforms to ISO standards. Sold individually, it is a direct line-item replacement for shops maintaining existing tooling programs.
Compatible with cutter series R217.21 and R220.21-R160 as stated by the manufacturer. Insert size code is 160T-04 within the 218.19-160 series. Verify cutter body pocket specifications before installation to confirm seating geometry and screw size.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key per the cutter body manufacturer torque specification found in the cutter body documentation — do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for debris or damage before seating the new insert.
