The SECO 03272672 is a single-sided, trigon-shaped solid carbide milling insert in the 218.19-100 series, manufactured to ANSI/ISO code 218.19-100T-MD08. It carries manufacturer grade MP2501 and is CVD-coated with a TiCN plus Al2O3 Duratomic coating for wear resistance in demanding cut conditions. The insert features a neutral rake, a T-Land cutting edge style, a 12-degree relief angle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.0290 inches and three cutting edges per insert, it is suited to high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations performed by machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops.
This insert is designed for milling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary application suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It fits within the R217.21 and R220.21-R100 cutter series. The MD08 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups. Fine-grain carbide substrate and CVD Duratomic coating work together to maintain edge integrity during interrupted cuts and at sustained feed rates on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, the machine spindle must be fully stopped, locked out, and the toolholder secured in a vise or fixture to prevent rotation. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the screw size used. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
