The SECO 03197128 is a CAT40 taper shank shell mill holder designed to mount shell mills and face mills in machining centers with CAT40 spindle interfaces. It features a 0.75 inch pilot diameter and a 1.75 inch nose diameter, providing a stable, concentric platform for high-torque milling operations. The overall length is 4.869 inches with a projection from flange to nose end of 1.5 inches. Through-coolant capability allows coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation. Typically installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in production or job-shop environments.
This shell mill holder is suited for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers equipped with CAT40 spindle tooling systems. It is commonly used in applications requiring face milling, shoulder milling, or other large-diameter cutter operations where a rigid, accurately located holder is critical to surface finish and dimensional accuracy. The through-coolant feature makes it well suited for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials where heat management at the cutting edge is a priority.
Designed as an OEM-style shell mill holder for machining centers with CAT40 taper spindle interfaces accepting standard shell mill bodies with a 0.75 inch pilot bore.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machining center spindle before mounting or removing toolholders. Use the appropriate CAT40 pull stud and a torque wrench rated for the spindle draw bar specification provided by the machine manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting before initiating a cutting cycle.
