The SECO 03171150 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-precision material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1.2 mm cutting diameter, a 0.1 mm corner radius, and a 1.8 mm length of cut, making it well suited for detailed profiling and finishing work in tight geometries. The tool carries a SIRON-A coating, which enhances wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting. With 2 right-hand spiral flutes and a centercutting geometry, it supports both plunge and peripheral cutting operations. This end mill belongs to the JME562 series and is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is rated for use on a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals. The extended-reach neck design, with a 4.5 mm reach length and 1.15 mm neck diameter, allows access to features that standard-length tools cannot reach. It is classified as a short-length, roughing-style tool, making it practical for aggressive material removal passes where corner integrity must be maintained. It is appropriate for use in small-part machining, mold and die work, and precision component production.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical shank toolholders accepting a 6 mm shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers and milling machines configured for small-diameter end mill work across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals per material application codes P, M, K, H, S, and N.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path program is verified before mounting the tool. Use a properly sized collet or toolholder rated for a 6 mm shank diameter and torque to the toolholder specification. Confirm runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cutting operation, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on small-diameter tools of this size.
