The SECO 03116005 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the SCS738R series platform, it features a 1/2 inch diameter cutting profile with a 0.0300 inch corner radius and seven flutes configured for close-pitch roughing. The AlTiN PVD coating provides oxidation resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, this tool delivers the rigidity and reach needed for aggressive roughing passes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy workpieces.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling operations in job shop and production environments where material removal rate and tool life in difficult workpiece materials are priorities. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand spiral flute geometry are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal machining center setups. The straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank fits standard end mill toolholders. It is a single-end, non-centercutting tool intended for peripheral and side milling rather than plunge entry. The 38-degree medium helix promotes chip evacuation while maintaining edge strength on hard and abrasive materials including superalloys and titanium.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore end mill toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Verify toolholder bore cleanliness and runout before seating the shank; TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Do not use this tool for plunge cuts, as it is non-centercutting. Confirm coolant strategy with machine setup — this tool does not have through-coolant capability, so flood or mist coolant should be directed at the cutting zone externally.
