The SECO 03115986 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.750 inch mill diameter, a 2.5 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length, this tool handles deep-reach finishing and semi-finishing passes where rigidity and tool life are critical. The AlTiN coating delivers elevated heat resistance, making it well suited for dry or high-speed machining of ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate supports sharp edge retention at elevated cutting temperatures. Six spiral flutes with a chipbreaker geometry and variable helix reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation. Installed by machinists and tool room technicians in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is built for production milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar hard materials where heat buildup and tool deflection are primary concerns. The long flute length and 4.0 inch reach support slotting, profiling, and side milling in deeper cavities without excessive tool stickout. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard 3/4 inch collets or end mill holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow conventional milling conventions. The centercutting design allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole, adding operational flexibility on the shop floor.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production tooling choice for any machine tool accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including standard collet chucks and end mill holders used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding torque and runout specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill. Ensure the collet or holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to maintain concentricity and prevent premature wear. Verify shank engagement depth meets minimum clamping requirements specified by the toolholder manufacturer before initiating a cut.
