The SECO 03115973 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.0600 inch corner radius, and six flutes ground in a right-hand spiral configuration with a 38-degree medium helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and exotic materials. This end mill is center-cutting, single-end, and built from micrograin carbide stock, making it suitable for both roughing and finishing passes without a tool change. It belongs to SECO Series SN638R.
This tool is intended for professional machining environments including job shops, production facilities, and maintenance machining operations. It is well suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The extended-reach geometry, with a 2.5 inch reach length and a neck diameter of 0.6000 inch, allows access to deeper pockets and stepped features that shorter tooling cannot reach. The close pitch flute spacing supports stable chip evacuation at higher feed rates in these materials. Installation is performed by qualified machinists using standard toolholders compatible with a straight-cylindrical shank.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout against the published TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch before beginning the cut.
