The SECO 03115963 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 0.0150-inch corner radius, and six flutes with a right-hand spiral and close pitch configuration. The 38-degree medium helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. An AlTiN PVD coating extends tool life when cutting abrasive and heat-resistant materials. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge entries as well as peripheral and slot milling. It is classified as a roughing-type end mill and is sized for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders.
This end mill is engineered for roughing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Its micrograin solid carbide substrate combined with the AlTiN coating makes it well suited for high-heat, high-load cuts typical in aerospace, die and mold, and general machining environments. The chipbreaker geometry further assists in breaking up chips during heavy passes, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup at the tool tip. It belongs to the SECO SCS638R series, which is designed for aggressive stock removal while maintaining dimensional control.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using a compatible end mill holder or collet chuck. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and runout against the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before commencing cuts. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer recommendations for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
