The SECO 03115934 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the Series S638 platform, this single-end tool features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank with an overall length of 2 inches. Six spiral flutes with a variable helix geometry improve chip evacuation and reduce chatter during finishing and semi-finishing passes. The AlTiN coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous materials and high-temperature alloys. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. It is manufactured from micrograin carbide stock for edge sharpness and wear resistance.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a long-series, small-diameter tool is needed for reaching into pockets, slots, or stepped features. Typical applications include slot milling, profile milling, and contour work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match standard spindle rotation on most vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNC machining center and manual mill setups requiring a 1/4 inch shank, 1/4 inch diameter solid carbide square end mill in the SECO Series S638 long-series configuration.
This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators using an appropriate collet, end mill holder, or hydraulic chuck rated for 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shanks. Verify runout at the spindle and holder before cutting to preserve edge geometry on a 6-flute tool. Ensure spindle is fully stopped and machine is in an e-stop or lockout condition before changing tooling. Follow shop speeds-and-feeds protocols for the specific workpiece material and machine spindle power.
