The SECO 03096637 is a TCMT-style triangular turning insert carrying ISO designation TCMT110208-F1 and manufacturer grade TP3501. It is constructed from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a multilayer Duratomic finish of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake geometry, and an F1 chip breaker designed to produce sharp, controlled cuts. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0315-inch corner radius, it is suited to general turning operations where precision and tool life are priorities in steel-focused production environments.
This insert is intended for use in external and internal machining applications including turning, facing, boring, and back turning. Its primary workpiece material is steel, covering material grades P20, P30, and P40, with stainless steel as a secondary workpiece material. The screw-hold mounting method is standard for TCMT-style toolholders, and the triangular shape provides three usable cutting edges per insert, making it a cost-effective choice for medium- to high-volume CNC lathe work in job shops and production facilities.
Designed as a replacement-style insert for TCMT-series toolholders accepting a 7-degree relief angle and screw-clamp retention. Primary application is steel workpieces at material grades P20, P30, and P40; secondary application is stainless steel. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; industry standard number TCMT21.52-F1.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, bring the machine to a full stop and follow lockout procedures for the lathe or machining center. Use the correct torque driver for the insert clamping screw to avoid seat damage or insert fracture; do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
