The SECO 03096610 is a VNMG332-MF3 series indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral hand orientation and four usable cutting edges, allowing full utilization before replacement. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide substrate and coated via CVD with a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr Duratomic coating classified as manufacturer grade TP3501. The MF3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for light to medium finishing cuts. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert is well-suited for applications demanding consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for use in external turning, facing, profiling, and back-turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The primary workpiece material designation is steel (ISO code P: material grades P20, P30, P40), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (ISO code M). It fits standard VNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert retention methods. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style supports reduced built-up edge in both continuous and interrupted steel cutting at moderate chip loads. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris before each insert index to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
