The SECO 03096574 is a TNMG432-MF3 triangular carbide turning insert in grade TP3501, designed for general-purpose external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN and Al2O3 with a chromium finish, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert has a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, a 3/16 inch thickness, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The MF3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing to medium cuts on steel and stainless steel. Licensed machinists and CNC operators specify this insert for high-volume turning programs where consistent tool life and chip control are priorities.
This insert is suited for steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpiece materials, covering material grades P20, P30, and P40. Typical applications include back turning, boring, facing, and longitudinal turning on components where a negative rake, neutral-hand insert with a chamfered and honed cutting edge is required. Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and locked out per facility safety procedures. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Torque clamping screws according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not over-tighten. Verify proper insert orientation and chip breaker direction before resuming cutting operations.
