The SECO 03096374 is a DNMG432-MF3 indexable turning insert in grade TP3501, designed for high-productivity machining on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a negative rake geometry, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315 inch corner radius. The CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. With four usable cutting edges and a chamfered-and-honed edge preparation, this insert is suited for productive metal removal in steel and stainless steel applications. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The 03096374 is intended for use in external and internal turning operations including back turning, boring, facing, and general turning. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P, grades P20, P30, and P40). Secondary workpiece material compatibility is stainless steel (ISO material code M). The MF3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium finishing passes where chip control and surface finish consistency are priorities. The insert can be held via clamp, pin, or lever lock toolholding systems. ISO designation for this insert is DNMG150408-MF3.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and lever lock, clamp, or pin clamping. Suitable for ISO P and M workpiece materials. Conforms to ANSI and ISO DNMG432 / DNMG150408 standard insert dimensions.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are free of chips and debris before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications for the lever lock, clamp, or pin system in use — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate.
