The SECO 03096360 is a DCMT11T304-MF2 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a Duratomic multilayer stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It features a 55-degree diamond insert shape (shape code D), a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and an MF2 chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. The insert carries a TP3501 manufacturer grade and is rated for ISO material groups P and M. Two cutting edges per insert are available, and the neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand tooling setups. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert into compatible screw-lock toolholders for precision metal removal.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium to light finishing passes where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities. Material grades P20, P30, and P40 indicate suitability across a range of carbon and alloy steels as well as austenitic and martensitic stainless steels. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces and heat generation, making it a practical choice for slender workpieces or setups with limited rigidity.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-lock turning toolholders compatible with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 5/32-inch insert thickness, and a 0.1772-inch hole diameter. Suitable for multi-use applications including back turning, boring, facing, and turning on steel (P20, P30, P40) and stainless steel workpieces per ISO material codes P and M.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC turning technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a fresh insert to ensure accurate positioning and safe operation.
