The SECO 03096320 is a CNMG543-MR7 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries a TP3501 grade designation and is engineered for negative-rake, neutral-hand turning operations. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch (0.0472 inch) corner radius, and 1/4-inch insert thickness. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the T-Land cutting edge style improves edge strength under interrupted or heavy cuts. This insert is held using clamp, pin, or lever-lock toolholders.
This insert is suited for steel and stainless steel workpiece materials, covering ISO material groups P and M. Grade TP3501 with P20, P30, and P40 material grade ratings makes it appropriate for a broad range of general turning, facing, and boring applications in production machining environments. The MR7 chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip flow across varying depths of cut up to 0.5866 inch. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO designation CNMG160612-MR7, making it a compatible drop-in replacement in any toolholder designed for that geometry.

Installation is performed by machining professionals or CNC setup technicians using appropriate torx or hex insert-clamping hardware per toolholder manufacturer specifications. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and spindle locked. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for clamping screws — do not overtighten.
