The SECO 03094159 is a TNMG332-MF3 series triangular carbide turning insert rated for steel and stainless steel machining. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which extends tool life on demanding interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a negative rake geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge and an MF3 chip breaker designed for medium to finish turning passes. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius, it delivers controlled chip formation in a compact TNMG profile. Six cutting edges maximize utilization per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for back turning, boring, facing, and general turning operations. Its primary workpiece material class is steel (ISO code P), with secondary capability on stainless steel (ISO code M). Material grade designations are P20, P30, and P40, covering a range of cutting conditions from semi-finish to roughing on ferrous materials. The TNMG-MF3 series is well suited for both light and moderate depth-of-cut applications in production turning environments, including CNC lathes and turning centers where clamp, pin, or lever-lock toolholders are in use.
Designed for use with TNMG-style toolholders that accept a triangular insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, N clearance angle, and M tolerance class. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever lock. Suitable for CNC lathes and manual turning centers set up for steel and stainless steel workpieces in P20, P30, and P40 material grade applications.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert to prevent rocking or uneven clamping load. Use the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping hardware and torque procedure for TNMG-style inserts. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
