The SECO 03094145 is a CNMG644-MR7 series indexable turning insert in grade TP3501, designed for medium to heavy-duty turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating combining TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life in demanding cut conditions. It features a 3/4 inch (0.7500 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/16 inch (0.0630 inch) corner radius, an 80-degree diamond insert shape, and a negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge. The MR7 chip breaker is optimized for consistent chip control across a wide range of feed rates and depths of cut.
This insert is suited for machining steel and stainless steel in roughing to semi-finishing applications where material grades P20, P30, and P40 apply. Typical use cases include external turning, internal boring, and facing passes on production and job-shop lathes. The four-cutting-edge configuration and neutral hand orientation make it versatile across a range of toolholder setups. Multi-use compatibility across boring, facing, and turning operations reduces the need to carry multiple insert grades for similar workpiece materials. This insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards under ISO designation CNMG190616-MR7.

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician following standard indexable insert changeout procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the recommended maximum depth of cut of 0.6969 inch for this insert geometry.
