The SECO 03094138 is a CNMG432-MF3 indexable turning insert in grade TP3501, designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — over a solid carbide substrate, delivering thermal resistance and wear life on steel and stainless steel applications. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) provides a strong cutting edge geometry, and the MF3 chip breaker is optimized for medium finishing passes. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and 4 usable cutting edges per insert, this is a standard production turning insert suited for high-volume turning operations.
This insert is intended for CNC turning operations including facing, boring, and longitudinal turning on steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpieces. The MF3 chip breaker geometry suits medium feed rates and moderate depths of cut, making it a practical choice for finishing and semi-finishing in production machining environments. It is sized and toleranced to ANSI and ISO standards, carrying the ISO designation CNMG120408-MF3. Machinists and CNC operators working on P20, P30, and P40 material grades will find this insert a direct fit for standard CNMG toolholders.
Designed for use in standard CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel (material grade P20, P30, P40) and stainless steel workpieces.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify clamp, pin, or lever-lock engagement before resuming cuts. Always inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris that could cause insert rock and premature edge failure.
