The SECO 03093922 is a CNMG643-M5 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. This insert seats in CNMG-style toolholders and performs facing, boring, and external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the M5 chip breaker and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style are optimized for medium to rough cuts in steel and stainless steel. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent tool life across high-volume production runs. The insert is used by machinists and CNC operators in metalworking and manufacturing environments.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel workpieces (ISO material code P, grades P20, P30, and P40) and secondary use on stainless steel (ISO material code M). It is suited for facing, boring, and turning applications requiring a neutral hand orientation. The CNMG643-M5 designation follows both ANSI and ISO standards, with the equivalent ISO code CNMG190612-M5. It is compatible with clamp, pin, and lever-lock insert-holding methods, making it adaptable to a wide range of CNMG toolholder styles used in turning centers and turret lathes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CNMG-style toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention. Compatible with toolholder systems that accept an 80-degree diamond insert with a 0.75 inches inscribed circle, 0.25 inches thickness, and a 0.3118 inches hole diameter. Suitable for multi-use applications including boring, facing, and turning on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping mechanism — do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and edge alignment.
