The SECO 03093915 is a CNMG431-M5 series indexable turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting operations including boring, facing, and turning. It is manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability under continuous cutting loads. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0157 inch corner radius. With four usable cutting edges and an M5 chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, this insert is suited for medium to heavy turning applications on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in production machining environments. The M5 chip breaker is optimized for steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpiece materials across material grades P20, P30, and P40. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with a wide range of CNMG-style toolholders. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes in job shop and production settings. The insert is held via clamp, pin, or lever lock toolholding systems.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified hardware for the clamping method in use; do not overtighten seating screws by feel alone. Verify insert seating and toolholder pocket condition before resuming cutting operations.
