The SECO 03093894 is a TNMG432-M3 grade TP3501 indexable turning insert designed for medium-to-heavy material removal on steel and stainless steel. The insert is manufactured from carbide and carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The triangular insert shape provides 6 usable cutting edges, and the M3 chip breaker geometry features a chamfered and honed edge prep suited for interrupted and continuous cuts. The 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and 0.0315-inch corner radius place this insert in the mid-range of general turning applications. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical tradespeople do not typically use this product — it is installed by machinists and CNC operators in metal cutting operations.
This insert is intended for use in negative-rake TNMG-style toolholders in turning centers and CNC lathes. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material group P: P20, P30, P40). Secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material group M). Applicable operations include turning, facing, boring, and back turning. The M3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions with moderate feeds and depths of cut. Maximum depth of cut is 0.7874 inches. The insert seats via clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods depending on the toolholder configuration used.

Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine in a full stop, spindle locked, and all energy sources isolated per machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before engaging the clamping mechanism — do not force the clamp onto a misaligned insert. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, chips, or debris before seating a new edge. Consult the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the clamping screw; do not use an impact driver.
