The SECO 03093890 is a VNMG332-M3 series solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Manufactured to both ANSI and ISO standards (ISO code VNMG160408-M3), this insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake and negative side clearance. It carries the TP3501 grade designation and uses SECO's Duratomic CVD coating process, applying TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr coating layers for wear resistance and toughness. With four available cutting edges and an M3 chip breaker geometry, it delivers consistent performance across finishing and medium machining operations.
This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces in both residential shop and industrial production environments. Material grades P20, P30, and P40 make it appropriate for moderate wear-resistance and toughness demands on steel (P-class) and moderate to high toughness demands on stainless steel (M-class). Typical multi-use applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and standard OD turning. The insert is held in compatible toolholders via clamp, pin, or lever lock methods. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in job shop and production turning operations.
Designed for use in VNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert holding methods. Compatible with toolholders accommodating an insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and clearance code N (negative side clearance). Consult toolholder documentation to confirm pocket geometry and insert seating before use.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and insert seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the grade and chip breaker combination in use.
