The SECO 03093888 is a WNMG433-M3 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries an 80-degree trigon (W-shape) geometry, a neutral hand orientation, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge for consistent chip formation. The insert is designed for steel and stainless steel turning operations where moderate wear resistance and toughness are the primary requirements. With six usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers an efficient cost-per-edge ratio for production turning environments. The M3 chip breaker geometry supports finishing and medium machining applications.
This insert is suited for general-purpose CNC lathe operations including turning, facing, and boring on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It is classified for ISO material groups P and M, with material grades P20, P30, and P40 as the primary range. The WNMG433-M3 geometry fits standard WNMG-style toolholders that use clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert retention. Typical applications include shaft turning, shoulder facing, and contour boring in both job shop and production settings. It is compatible with ANSI and ISO toolholder systems accepting WNMG-style inserts.
Designed for use in WNMG-style indexable turning toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with negative rake geometry; compatible with ANSI (WNMG433) and ISO (WNMG080412) standard holders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician during toolholder setup on a lathe or machining center. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp screw or activating the lever-lock mechanism. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque, and inspect the pocket for chips or debris before seating a new cutting edge.
