The SECO 03093873 is a SNMG433-M3 indexable turning insert designed for steel and stainless steel machining in boring, facing, and turning operations. It is manufactured from solid carbide and carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and thermal resistance at the cutting edge. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch corner radius, and a square 90-degree geometry with a negative rake. Eight usable cutting edges are available per insert. The M3 chip breaker and chamfered and honed cutting edge style make this insert well-suited to moderate-to-heavy interrupted and continuous cuts in P20, P30, and P40 material grades.
This insert is intended for use in CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. It targets steel (ISO P) as its primary workpiece material and stainless steel (ISO M) as a secondary application. Typical install scenarios include roughing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and coating durability are critical. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO code SNMG120412-M3, making it interchangeable with toolholders designed for the SNMG 12 04 platform. It is sold individually and supports clamp, pin, and lever-lock holding methods.
Designed for use in SNMG-style indexable toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle square insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter and lever-lock, clamp, or pin clamping. Suitable for ISO P (steel) and ISO M (stainless steel) workpiece materials at material grades P20, P30, and P40.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert via lever-lock, clamp, or pin method. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate geometry.
