The SECO 03093856 is a CNMG432-M3 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries grade designation TP3501 and features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch). With four cutting edges and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, this insert is engineered for productive metal removal in turning, boring, and facing operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for use in CNC lathes and turning centers performing external and internal turning, facing, and boring operations. It is best suited for steel workpieces in material grades P20, P30, and P40, with secondary suitability for stainless steel (ISO M category). The M3 chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip control across a range of depths of cut up to 0.4764 inches. It is installed in toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods, making it compatible with a wide range of standard CNMG toolholder systems. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
Designed for use in standard CNMG-series toolholders accepting clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Compatible with toolholder systems sized for a 1/2-inch inscribed circle CNMG insert. Suitable for primary workpiece material Steel (ISO P) and secondary workpiece material Stainless Steel (ISO M).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and the toolholder secured in a safe, locked condition before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating screw for the specific toolholder clamping system; do not over-tighten clamp screws by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
