The SECO 03084178 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling of stainless steel, superalloys, and hard materials. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge for longer tool life. The 4-flute, single-end design with a variable helix promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced chatter during both roughing and finishing passes. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in aerospace, medical, and precision manufacturing environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for machining stainless steel, superalloys, and hard materials in demanding milling applications. Its long flute length and high helix geometry make it well-matched for deep-pocket milling, side milling, and slotting in high-temperature alloy components. The Weldon flat shank ensures secure seating in compatible toolholders, reducing runout in high-speed operations. The STR440.2 series is optimized for material removal rates in both roughing and finishing cycles on CNC machining centers.

Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Confirm the toolholder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the Weldon flat shank, and torque the set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches before beginning production cuts. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine builder guidelines for tool clamping and spindle speed limits.
