The SECO 03084171 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix for reduced chatter and improved chip evacuation. The AlTiN PVD coating delivers heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, this tool handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. It is center-cutting and right-hand cutting with a right-hand flute direction, making it compatible with standard toolholders used in CNC milling operations.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and vertical mills in job shops, aerospace shops, and precision manufacturing environments. The STR440.2 series targets challenging workpiece materials where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical. The micrograin carbide substrate and high helix geometry support aggressive feeds in difficult-to-machine alloys while maintaining surface finish quality. A 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and shrink-fit toolholders.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by material codes M, S, and H. Part of the SECO STR440.2 series.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The spindle must be fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe state before changing tooling. Use a calibrated toolholder with runout within the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches to protect edge integrity. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material being cut.
